Read about it: Volunteers can help nonprofits when tech budgets are tight
ElderHealth is an organization dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for elders and people with chronic illnesses and disabilities. They first came to NPower Seattle in 2003 because their website needed to be updated.
One of our subcontractors prepared a scope of work outlining the time and expense needed to make the necessary changes. Unfortunately, EHNW's vision exceeded the resources at hand, and the project was too expensive for them to take on. Talk turned to finding a volunteer.
Patrick Shaw, our consulting services manager, stepped in and posted a volunteer opportunity on NPower's website. ElderHealth was able to find a dedicated volunteer, and our consultant created a new scope of work: He would provide the oversight, EHNW would provide strategic direction and content, and a volunteer would do the coding.
After Elderhealth NW launched their revamped website, their staff emailed us to let us know the impact of our services.
"Patrick - We now have quite a volunteer-success story, thanks to you and Jaxon coming together with Susan. A few weeks ago, we launched the new and improved www.elderhealth.org, and now I'm in the fortunate position of telling people that our website has the most up-to-date information about us! We're also watching how search engines find us and will be looking at improving our success rate on that front in the coming months.
Anyway, Susan was a joy to work with. Thanks so much to you and Jaxon for helping us develop the project and finding us the perfect volunteer!"
