Back to TopWho can take a class at NPower?
NPower's training is open to staff (and volunteers who play a key role) at 501 (c)3 nonprofit organizations (excluding places of worship) in the Puget Sound area. Staff and volunteers of other 501(c) organizations (including nonprofit educational institutions, associations, civic leagues, clubs, etc.) may also register for training at non-member rates. Special classes, discounts, and scholarships apply to 501(c)3 nonprofits only.
If you are not a staff member or key volunteer of a qualifying 501(c) organization, you can try contacting your local community college network, libraries, Ramco, New Horizons, The Mac Store (for Macs) or DiscoverU for training options.
Do I need to be an NPower member to take an NPower Class?
No, you don't have to be an NPower member to take a class, but NPower members do receive significant discounts on training rates. If you or others at your organization plan on taking several classes, becoming a member may save you money. Learn more about membership.
How much do NPower classes cost?
Regular rates for NPower classes are priced for both members and non-members and depend on the length of the class, ranging from 2 hour mini-workshops ($10 member/$20 nonmember) to two full days of class ($240 member/$360 nonmember). See full list of current training rates.
How do I pay for a class?
NPower will bill your organization after you have taken the class. Your organization can send payment by check or money order. NPower is not set up to accept credit card/debit card pay at this time.

Is financial aid available?
Ongoing scholarship programs, including those made possible by Adobe, are available for a variety of educational opportunities. For more information, check out the Scholarships & Discounts page.
How do I register for a class?
Please submit the online registration form. If you experience any problems with the form, or need assistance filling it out, drop us a line at training@npowerseattle.org or (206) 286-8880.
How can I check to see if I am registered for a class?
We will send you a confirmation email generally within 1 - 3 business days of your registration. If you are on the waiting list, we will notify you three business days before the class if a spot has opened up. You may also send an email to training@npowerseattle.org or call 206.286.8880 to check your registration status.
What if I can't make a class?
In the event that you must withdraw from a class, you will not be billed if you notify us at least three business days in advance. If you are only able to provide advance notice of less than three business days (i.e. late-notice withdrawal) you will be billed and are invited to retake the class within 6 months on a space available basis for a $10 administrative fee. If you are unable to provide any advance notice at all (i.e. "no-show"), you will be billed and are invited to retake the class within 6 months on a space available basis for a $20 administrative fee.
What if I'm late for class?
All classes (with the exception of the occasional afternoon class) begin at 9:00 am sharp! Please plan to arrive at least five minutes early; students arriving more than 15 minutes late may be refused entry to class at the instructor's discretion & your registration status will be updated to a late-notice withdrawal (see question directly above).
I cannot attend Part 2 of the class I'm signed up for, when will it be offered again?
You may register to take Part 2 on a different date then your scheduled series on stand-by basis for up to six months from the originally scheduled class date, paying only a $10 administrative fee. Please check our class catalog to see when the next training will be offered.
Why did my class get cancelled?
NPower may cancel a class due to low enrollment or an emergency. In the case of low enrollment, notice will be provided no less than three business days in advance. Class cancellations due to inclement weather will generally correspond with the closure of Seattle Public Schools. To confirm whether or not a class will be held, call us after 7:30 am on the day of your class for a voice-mail announcement at 206.286.8880.
What happens if my class gets cancelled?
NPower does not like to cancel classes, but sometimes it does happen. If your class is cancelled, we can:
1) Register you for the next time the class is offered. NPower does not cancel the same class twice in a row.
2) Refund your money and refer you to other training resources (i.e. community college class, book, tutor).
3) Refund your money, but send you the student guide so you can work independently.
I missed my class. Can my coworker take my place on the next date it is offered?
NPower does not change student names on class registrations. The only instance when name changes will take place for retaking a missed class, is if the original student is no longer with your organization. In this instance, NPower should be contacted at 206.286.8880 or Training@NPowerSeattle.org, and must occur within six months of the original class date. For each change, appropriate administrative fees will apply.
Can I re-take a class without paying for tuition again?
Yes. You can re-take a class within 6 months on a space-available basis for only a $10 administrative fee. Just register as you normally would and make a note that you are registering as a "retake" on your form. You'll receive an update/confirmation on your spot in the class about a week before it begins.
I'm a key volunteer at a nonprofit. Can I register & pay for a class myself?
Yes. You may register for classes at NPower under your nonprofit's membership status with us. Please be sure to clear it with the organization first. Even if you choose to pay out-of-pocket, your nonprofit will receive a balance sheet (instead of an invoice) showing activity of their account with us.
