Volunteer Matching Program
NPower Seattle provides its members with the Volunteer Matching Program to help them find volunteers for tech projects.
Volunteer Matching
We have a pool of over 200 volunteers eager to work with NPower members. From tech tutors to website architects, a technical volunteer may be the right fit for your short-term project. Volunteer matching is free for NPower Seattle members. Not a member? Find out about joining, or check out www.volunteermatch.org.
How does it work?
If you have the staff resources to develop a technology project and effectively manage a volunteer, you can fill out our on-line Project Application Form. We'll review your project application and offer suggestions for developing a manageable and successful technology project. A volunteer can choose your project from the Project Opportunites List, at which point you would meet with them and develop a project "scope of work" - an outline of the tasks to be completed and the expected timelines.
While some technology projects lend themselves to volunteers, not all do. Here are some key characteristics of a good volunteer project:
1. The project is focused and short-term in nature.
2. The organization can find time outside of business hours to work with the volunteer.
3. Staff can keep the project moving forward between volunteer visits.
4. The organization can handle the long-term maintenance of the product themselves or find help easily in the future. (i.e. staff can make updates to the website the volunteer built)
