Salesforce Pros:

  • Excellent CRM for managing contact with constituents
  • For donor management, better than all the inexpensive options, better value than Raiser’s Edge
  • Much more than just donor software – can track clients, cases, volunteers, programs, nearly anything
  • Available anywhere via the web, no infrastructure needed
  • Getting better all the time

Salesforce Cons:

  • Probably more expensive to implement than simple donor systems (but much more powerful and flexible)
  • Somewhat constrained by its sales-centric design (but most of that is easy to hide)
